We are building a neighbourhood, a community where we can support each other when needed, and where we invite friendships among ourselves and with our neighbours.
All apartment units and all shared spaces in Unitarian Commons will be barrier-free. We will adhere to all building standards for wheelchair and walker requirements.
Unitarian Commons will aim to be energy efficient and will use environmentally responsible building materials. A shared vegetable garden and outdoor relaxation areas are in our plan.
Shared spaces at Unitarian Commons will, we hope, include a common kitchen and dining room and a community room with porches and gardens. All common areas will be barrier free. The designed traffic flow of the building will create natural connections between individual units and common areas.
Unitarian Commons will contain between 20 and 50 apartments with an average apartment size of 800 square feet. Apartments will include a living and dining area with kitchen, bathroom(s) and one or two bedrooms. Every part of Unitarian Commons will be designed to be accessible for wheelchair users.
We are searching for approximately one acre of affordable property near public transit in Toronto. We welcome any suggestions about suitable locations for Unitarian Commons.
